Dande Festival in Brazil 2019

Brazil is a neighborhood on Aruba. The people that live Brazil pride themselves in maintaining the culture of Aruba by organizing different cultural activities. Brazil on the 27th of December in 2019 has held their own Dande Festival at the neighborhood centre of Brazil. This festival has been held for nineteen years already and they have announced that in 2020 the celebration will be something special since it will be a lustrum festival. Today Bacchanal Culture gives you an overview of the nineteenth edition that we’ve covered.

Cultural Pilars of Aruba's Dande

The evening started with the committee of the Centre of Brasil handing out recognitions to persons as ‘Cultural Pilars of Dande’ that through the years have contributed greatly in maintaining the tradition of Dande. Some of these persons have passed away and the award was handed over to a representative or family member. The recognized persons were/ are Dande singers, musicians or even had/ have their own Dande groups. Some of them are Dande King that have won Dande Festival in the past. The awards went to Erigino Ras (r.i.p.), Quinteto Imperial (group), Isidro Silvanio Maduro, Marco (Chomai) Koolman, Concepcion Maduro (r.i.p.), Eloy Koolman, Simon (Chomon) van der Biezen, Leon Ricardo Ras, Luis Inario Maduro (r.i.p.), Clemente Maduro, Supriano (Sholang) van der Linde (r.i.p.), Ismael (Esy) Croes (r.i.p.), Jacob Harms (r.i.p.), Jacobo (Cobi) Maduro, Frenk Roland Kock, Hubert F. Ras, Martiñan Kock (r.i.p.), Bernadina Growell-Kock (r.i.p.), José Fernando Orman, Jan Jacobo Vos (r.i.p.), Juan Vos (r.i.p.), Marcelo (Buchi) van der Biezen, Juan Ras (r.i.p.), Louterio (Toto) Maduro (r.i.p.), Andres Maduro, Pedro Inocencio Kock, Facundo Panneflek, Vicente Damian Ras, Gregorio (Goy) Ras (r.i.p.), Maria Krozendijk (r.i.p.), Jan Geerman (r.i.p.), Chani Vrolijk (r.i.p.), Roberto Orman and Bruno Koolman.
