Dushi Carnival Group 2019
In 2009 –The 55th Aruba Carnival- , the brothers Aldrick and Hilward Croes (r.i.p.) amongst other family members and friends founded the ‘Dushi Carnival Group’ born out of the musical band of ‘Dushi Band’ which was owned by Hildward himself. This group had its own style especially in the music animation by their first houseband ‘Dushi Band’.
The band introduced the Soca Trance music, which allows for rhythmical, joyful relaxation dancing on the go in the parades. This slow beat rhythm has become very popular, mainly amongst the youth. This is also one of the reasons why the ‘Dushi Carnival Group’ has always been sold out for the Torch Parade, which yearly initiates the Carnival season. The ‘Dushi Band’ music combined with the group’s design and creativity of the costumes have, in a short time, created a widelyspread outstanding reputation for ‘Dushi Carnival Group’. A compelling group for many Carnival lovers. Apparently ‘Dushi Band’s’ Soca Trance in Carnival is being applauded even in Carnival front-runner Trinidad & Tobago.
Aldrick Croes thinks that Carnival Groups should come together and put their thinking caps on to find ways to raise funds for support to the groups and ways to cut costs: ‘United we stand, divided we fall’. ‘Dushi Band’ after Hildward Croes has passed away has been passed over to Michael Lampe and gos by the of ‘Madness Band’ and so continuing the tradition as houseband of the group.
For Carnival 65 in 2019 ‘Dushi Carnival Group’ participated by the theme of ‘Land of Dreams’.
‘Dushi’ roadpiece: ‘The Secret’ with Andy Mendez won the ‘Carnival 2nd Best Luxurious Roadpiece 2019’ prize.
Inspiration and concept: In Buddhist symbolism and beliefs the Lotus Flower is symbolic in life for purity of the body, speech, and mind as while rooted in the mud, it’s flowers blossom on long stalks as if floating above the muddy waters of attachment and desire. The Lotus Flower is also symbolic of detachment as drops of water easily slide off it’s petals. In life’s difficult times and situation that’s hard to navigate these beliefs can guide people to beautiful outcomes and help them to grow spiritually into better human beings.
